More Success in Paper Mills Paper making plants are very big consumers of water and many suffer from serious scaling problems. Kimberly Clark, one of the world’s leading papermakers, uses MagCAT units in the UK and in Italy. In Spain three separate papermakers now use MagCATS. At Papertech in Spain the water has a hardness of over 500mg/l and fearing that a new plate type heat exchanger would scale up within weeks of installation Management at Papertech installed a 5” diameter MagCAT treating 70m3 per hour of water immediately prior to it going through the heat exchanger. After 10 months the plate exchanger was opened up and only a soft coating of easily removed powder was found. Papertech have since ordered a 2 1/2” MagCAT for protection of vacuum pumps against scaling.
